Professional Development Points for Behaviour Analysts

Kameleon Group wants to contribute to the broader industry of those working in the field of specialist behaviour support or those who work with children and young people living with a disability.

Our Approach

There is a plethora of online courses available today, especially internationally. However, at Kameleon, our focus is different. We use learning science to build an environment for you to learn new skills or to enhance your current skills.

We have developed courses with an understanding of the contingencies required for you to learn and then ultimately apply this learning by altering your behaviour. Even within the learning science community, there are not many organisations that provide learning that is based on the science of how we learn and what we need within the learning environment to measure our success.

Our courses include best practices around learning technologies and impactful adjustments that result in significant learning gains. We understand your time is valuable, we want you to spend your time wisely when taking the time to develop your practice.

All courses are self-paced, where you can start and stop the courses when it suits you.

ACE Provider

We are currently a registered ACE provider and as such can provide courses to those practitioners who have a BCBA BCaBA or CBA certification. These courses will display the number of continuing development points available for each course.

Kameleon Group are committed to the broader behaviour analytic community and as such we have developed a suite of courses specifically targeted to those who currently hold certifications of BCBA, BCaBA and CBA and CBaAs. Our courses go beyond the initial certification requirements and task list areas.

The ACE courses cover a broad range of theories and practices that are behaviour analytic in nature and focus on current content that supports practitioners to continue to develop. Kameleon courses are developed for practitioners specifically working within an Australian context, taking into account current regulations, policies and ethical standards.

So, if you are a BCBA, CBA or BCaBA you can complete one of our bespoke courses and earn your continuing development points (CDP).

All courses include handouts and aides that are practical and designed to support your learning. Our Clinical Leadership Team are currently developing a suite of courses that will be available soon. Check back here regularly to see our progress.

Teacher Development Points

Teachers are valuable assets to our children and young people’s future, and as such we are passionate about providing any support we can to our teachers.

Each state in Australia holds specific requirements for organisations providing training to teachers, they must meet minimum requirements and undergo a process unique for their state to enable courses to be counted toward teacher development points. with other states added later this year.

Kameleon is currently undergoing NESA accreditation which will enable the provision of courses for teachers in NSW that include development points for teachers registered to practice in NSW.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applied Behaviour Analysis is a science. It provides us with scientific information on how a person interacts with their environment and the impact their interactions have. Basically it is the science of how behaviour works.

Applied Behaviour Analysis is not a ‘therapy’ or a ‘methodology’. It is a scientific, data driven approach to behaviour. This data assists our Practitioners to devise person-centred, effective behaviour support plans.

As every Kameleon Participant is an individual and is treated as an individual it is very hard to give an indication of cost to develop a support plan. The process includes includes functional assessment interviews, observations and interactions with the person and their support team, assessment of skill areas, write up of the support plan itself, development of individualised programs and creating the datasheets.
After initial assessments have been undertaken your Practitioner will be able to give an indication of the time required to develop a plan. Kameleon Group charges the current NDIS rates per hour for services.

We do our best to finalise the plan within 2-3 months (if there are no restrictive practices). This timeframe is dependent upon the availability of the person themselves and the key people in their lives. You will receive a schedule of support with more specific timeframes from your practitioner prior to the work being undertaken.

The Collaborative Problem Solving model (CPSM) is a methodology that works within the underlying philosophy that all children and young people do the best they can within the environment they exist in. If a child or young person can be successful, they will be.

It looks at the expectations placed on the child or young person and draws comparisons to the child’s skills. When mismatches occur, the child does not have the skill to meet the expectations, and often result in behaviours that challenge.

Kameleon Group does not provide ‘critical’ services. However we understand that in situations of disasters or emergencies, we need to ensure services continue to be provided. Our response will include the provision of services by an alternate practitioner, or the provision of services by telehealth. We will consult with you during these times and provide options of service delivery to meet your needs.

The Kameleon Group charges the current NDIS rates per hour for services. We include travel costs and we come to you at home, at school, in the community. Further information on current NDIS pricing and the Monash Model for travel costs can be found under our Resources Heading (E-Resources) or on the NDIS website www.ndis.gov.au

If your school is interested in behaviour support to work in partnership with them, please call our office on 1300 10 10 69 to discuss our options.
