Helder has been working as a Behaviour Analyst for over 20 years. He completed his undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies in Psychology in Brazil. Throughout his career, he has focused on various areas, including educational technologies, and Organisational Behaviour Management. Additionally, Helder has valuable experience working with the accreditation board of behaviour analysts in Brazil, within the country’s leading scientific association (ABPMC).
Helder has amassed over 15 years of experience teaching Behavior Analysis. For the past 8 years, he has been a faculty member at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). As an educator, Helder is renowned for his inventive teaching approaches. Some of his initiatives have garnered international recognition, such as the Rats’ basketball championship and the team of dogs “predicting” the results of the World Cup. In both instances, his undergraduate students acquired a profound understanding of behaviour shaping by applying Behaviour Analysis within a stimulating setting.
Acknowledging the significance of the online learning in enhancing educational accessibility, Helder established the Operanda Platform. This platform applies Behaviour Analysis to provide open and online courses. This endeavour earned recognition and support in 2022 from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis. The outcomes, characterised by notable student performance, retention, and satisfaction, underscore the effectiveness of Behavior Analysis in enhancing both teaching and learning processes.
